BACK TO BLOGGING

YAR DOLLS!!!I'M BACK!

EEE so it's been a year since I created this blog, due to pure procrastination from last years exams... So it is only fair that I delay my studies once more and start it up again!

An absurd amount has changed since my foregoing post of October 2013, so I shall begin.

I am now a makeup artist running my business COCOBÖXX MAKEUP, Its so much fun and I've learnt an awful lot. All aspects are amazing but have found the fashion side to makeup my favourite, from studio shoots and editorial looks, which I hope to be posting about in the near future.

See All links to my work here

I still love all things beauty and boundlessly will I be making pretty little posts on products. From being a makeup artist I have learnt what lotions and potions work well on different skin types and ethnicities.

Clothes obvs! Me and my chums are all into our attire, and many of them are rather savvy fashionistas; Recently i've attended London Fashion week, PFW, Fashion shows, and countless trips to the Trafford centre, so me along with my girls will be posting outfit posts and hauls!

What else is new? .... Well I'm now a Pescetarian and budding vegan, so I shall be updating you with my latest and greatest recipes and cooking tips.

SO YES! I really hope to get back into the swing of blogging.

Thanks for reading!

Editorial Look - Animal Eyes

 Hey!
I have recently been trying to beef up my porfolio, so i've done some more editorial esc looks!

Today i have an Animal/Deer look which i did on the lovely alex!
This is perfect for halloween and other fancy dress occasions.

I used Collection/Bobbi Brown - Gel liners in black to map out the structure of the look
and a ocer/y orange toned shadow for over the lid to create dimension.

For highlighted sections i used a matte white shadow.

To contour i used a matte kaki shade under the cheek bones and jaw line.

For blush i used an neon orange shadow very lightly sweeping over the checks and the cheek bones to warm up the face.

  • On the lashes are Amazing shine lashes - 12
  • On the bottom  Amazing Shine Lashes 199

For the checks i used gel liner to draw the circles, and microflex 3D glitter which i stuck down with Duo Lash glue.

On the lips i used a light pinky nude, so all the attention was on the rest of the face - Topshop - Innocent.

THE £1 BLUSH

HAI THERE!
Today i thought id dabble more into the 'Budget Buy Category'
If you've read my blog for awhile you'll no that my holy grail brow product is the
'MUA Shadow in Shade 19'
Recently my local Superdrug have had a-bit of a makeover and now they have a much larger MUA stall; I decided to take a thorough look, and was delighted with what i found!

Creme blushes are a hit and miss with me, as i have oiler skin they tend to slide around or wear-off completely in a short amount of time.
So the point in this ramble was

'THE MUA BLUSH PERFECTION CREAM BLUSH'S"

There are 4 shades available in stores, and 6 online.
Like with most cream blushes they are 'mull-use' products; these on the lips create a texture similar to that of a lip crayon.
They're super duper pigmented and shown in the swatches below, they can be sheered out or built up dramatically likewise they have good lasting power.

I decided to go for a Peachy shade - Dolly
and more of a bright Pink - Lush

I really like them both they are natural looking on the cheeks and provide a gentle sheen which is perfect for the cold months!

Overall i really like this product and this its utterly perfect if you're on a budget or even if you're not.
Only downside would be the packaging as its easy to break and the writing wears off quickly;i'd also love to see if cream bronzers and contour shades would be intro ducted.
 But they're £1 I'm not complaining!

Much of a muchness? - Moisturisers

The weather has officially turned grey, and there is no longer any hope of sun.. well in England.
So its time to rehydrate your skin to avoid dried out, dull or desiccated skin!
With the help of some moisturisers,
 I know this isn't the most exciting topic in the world but until recently i took no interest in them and didn't know how different ones could benefit your skin in many ways or how they reacted differently on different skin types;
So i hope you somewhat enjoy my round up ;)

My Personal Favourite Ones (for face)
 - (links included in descriptions)

Ode to Clinique.

100% Fragrance free Rich, oil-free cream-gel instantly rehydrates.
Light and comfortable on the skin.
Gel-like texture, this would be good for sensitive skin.

Skin Types: All

"New formula now helps strengthen skin's own moisture barrier. More moisture stays in. Skin feels soft, springy. Has a healthy-looking glow."
I've mentioned this in a former favourites ... (shameless plug) but i do really like it/enjoy using it its has the faintest smell of marzipan but it moisturises the skin lightly and well!

Skin Types: Dry/Combination

Under Makeup Faves.

Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream

"Oilatum Natural Repair Face Cream penetrates deeply to rehydrate facial skin relieving tightness and irritation and leaving it feeling smooth."
A recommendation from Lisa Eldridge.. well Of course i had to buy it! This is a suposed 'Makeup Artists Must have' and as an aspring one myself i picked it up
this is a really nice base for under products and it sinks into the skin quickly.
Notes - On oiler skins it tends to 'roll off'

Skin Types: Dry/Combination/Sensitive

I'm mentioning this as it was a former fave of mine, but recently i just haven't been getting on with it whatsoever. I have found my skin unable to breathe under it especially if applied before excessing.
I was originally enticed by the utter hype and holy grail tag this product has and previously i had liked it with it's  light-weight feel.
Its 'Lait' name is evident in the product as it has a milk like consistence.
It does apply well under makeup as it allows the base to blend in smoothly. It does take longer to work in than the Oilatum its also cheaper hehe.

Skin Types: Claims all but i would stay away if you have particularly oily skin!

Short, Snappy, Skincare

Simple -
Kind to skin hydrating light Moisturiser
This is a back in the day product for me, when the complexity of my skincare routine was that of a Brick.
But i have to say it is still great! It does what it says on the tin it lightly moisturises the skin, without causing irritation or no major skin pros or cons.
This is ideal for people with sensitive skin or young skin or for those with 'perfect' skin that kneed no help *i envy you*

Skin Types: All

SEPTEMBER FAVES!!

So... September; The month in which i returned to school and where the weather truly decided to turn on us.
September is when i officially announced Autumn into my beauty routine; and i thought id share with you a few stand out products that have helped me make the transition.

YANKEE CANDLE - SALTED CARMEL CANDLE.
I'm a Candle Gal all year round, but this one in particular has made me feel so snug and autumnal.
Its a sweet smelling candle, but to warn you its not for everyone, as my mum thinks it smells like curry....

Lancome-Color Design
Eye/Cheek/Powder Palette-6
This is all i have been wearing pretty much for shadows this month!
As a base i've used the lightest Vanilla-esc shadow, in the socket I've taken Mac's Omega, for the outer V the taupe colour, to blend out the shadows and to warm up the look i've used the blush/cranberry shade in this pallet, and the black colour along the lash line. It creates a lovely warm autumnal look!

 Bioderma
Every month Bioderma is a fave of mine, but this one in particular, as i am almost out of my 2 - 500ml bottles i purchased in February.
I have been scrimping and saving it for heavy makeup nights.
But i will 1000000% be re-purchasing once my spending ban ends!!!

 False Eyelashes
Ok Yah, in my eyes an evening look is not complete without eyelashes; now i'm not talking Essex/i can't open my eyes type of lashes, but a natural, fluttery look, by cutting them in half
They add so much and really accentuate your eyes, when applied properly with eyeliner and all they loook FAAAABBB

Oragins Vita Zing
As i said i went back to school this month and i was after a super light everyday wear base, i didn't want anything heavy like a foundation, so i was looking around the  BB's, CC's and tinted moisturisers on the market when i came across this.
I've been aware of this for ages as people have said it's lovely for under foundation.
Its a grey like colour which blends to match anyone skin tone (abit like the L'oreal BB cream) It adds a lovely glow to the skin without adding any real coverage its like a sheered down tinted moisturiser; Definatly a No-Makeup-Makeup must have!

Mac Plumful Lipstick
This is by far one of my favorite Mac lipsticks .. actually one of my favorite lipsticks all together, the formular is lovely, the colour is beautiful, its perfect for someone who wants to darken there lipstick for A/W but isn't quite up for a Vampy lip just yet.
I recently have been dabbaling into Soap and Glorys 'Pom Pom' lipstick which is some what a 'dupe' for this!

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kajal
I've been faithful the very hyped nude coloured liner from this range in Rimmel since summer, but it wasn't till trying this one in particular for me to really appreciate them; The formula is super creamy but also long lasting, I used this either as an all over base on the lid or pushed against the lash line!

Dove Summer Glow Lotion.
Well as summer is officially over here in England, its time to crack out the good old fake tan!
As i still have some reminence of my holiday tan im not quite ready for my Xen Tan which im storing for the months to come!
I really love this gradual lotion from Dove, its thick enough so it blends in nicely and hydrates the skin and also is a lovely colour; its comparable to the cult classic 'Palmers Coco Butter' but i find that this has more of a golden colour and the palmers one is slightly more orangggeeyyyy..
Side note!! DO NOT get the one with 'Subtle Shimmer' ITS NOT SUBTLE WHATSOEVERRRRR litterally disco ball for days.

A Brush Talk

Today i thought we could have a little chat on brushes.
By no means am i an expert on them but through my obsession with all things beauty i have learnt a little.
I often get asked; Why do you need so many brushes? or What are they for? So i thought id go through some of my favourites and what i personally use them for!

MAC 168
A blush brush - I really like to use angled brushes for blush as i feel they fit nicely onto the apples of the cheeks and also don't apply to much product.
i particularly like this one as its fluffy so it blends the product nicely.

SIGMA LARGE POWDER F30 (ESSENTIAL KIT)
A large powder brush. A fluffy powder brush is great for applying powder or powder products without over doing it and getting that undesired 'cakey look'.

•REAL TECHNIQUES DOME SHADOW BRUSH
•CHEEKY BRUSHES FLAT SHADOW BRUSH
Concealer brushes are great for blending products together.
i personally don't use them for under the eyes, as using your ring finger to blend it warms up the product therefore it blends better.
But for imperfections using a brush is more hygienic and buffs the products more evenly.

•MAC 224 TAPERED BLENDING BRUSH
•MAC 217
Blending brushes are the brush i have the most of, They can be used with shadows to defuse them out to give a soft look; or used clean to blend and produce a 'smokey eye'.
I also you the 224 for contouring the nose.

SUQQU CHEEK BRUSH
This is possibly my favourite brush.
I use this for contour and bronzer; like the cheek brush its angled, so it fits nicely under the cheek bones and on the temples, to give a bronzed and sculpted look.

REAL TECHNIQUES BUFFING BRUSH
the infamous buffing brush, this cult product from the 'core collection'  is one of the best buys on the highstreet.
it blends and buffs in base products so nicely. It doesn't leave brush streaks nor does it malt onto the skin.
the synthetic fibres don't 'eat up' the product and it takes literally 1 minuet to apply your base.

CHANEL SMALL DUO FIBER FACE BRUSH
Duo fiber brushes are great for those products that you dont want to apply alot of. Because the fibers are more dense at the bottom and then thin off towards the top, this allows for a lighter application.
I use this for highlighter as nobody wants to look like a glitter ball.

MAC 239
A flat shader brush is great for products such as pigments and glitters (things that tend to go all over the place)
By patting the product on instead of sweeping the product sticks (i recommend using a base of either an eye primer of cream shadow)

MAC 316 LIP BRUSH
i'm a lover of a bold bright lip, so for accurate and neat application a lip brush is an essential.
I'm not a huge fan of squared lip brushes as ... your lips arn't square.

SIGMA SMALL ANGLE BRUSH E65
Cat eyes yah yah, Liner is a must have for me. I love an angled brush as its so much easier for me to achieve an even flick.
A small thin brush is good for liner because its easy to add more but its a right meerrr to take it away.

DOUBLE ENDED BROW BRUSH (SPOOLIE/DENSE ANGLED BRUSH)

Brows <3, My favourite way to do my brows is with power (MUA Shade 19) Holy grail. And this brush i've had for years and its the best; On one end there is a densely packed angled brush so you can get the shape and on the other a spoolie to brush out the product and keep things in place.

really hope this helped :)!!

Hope you liked this look
